SONG OF THE EX-PATS

This blog is dedicated today to all who left their homeland for distant shores. They went to seek justice, dignity, decency, a better way of life, and fair play. Some found what they were looking for, some did not, some are still looking, and some have found it and lost it for the very last time.
The ones, who are left behind, still welcome us with that old recognition in their eyes, faces, smiles, and open arms.
The tears tell how much you were missed and for so long, in
their embraces and tales of yesterdays

Many of us yearly visit the motherland or fatherland like an orphan
looking for our roots.
We were whole when we were last together, and now years later we are like small pieces of a puzzle, with some bits lost forever. Only in old worn-out pictures and family albums, we are still whole and together as our memories gently fade into the shadows of a moonless night.

My Earthy Shadow.

  My Earthy Shadow. I cast the longest shadow of myself against the setting sun on a bed of green grass, surrounded by flowers, and thorns, but there is no shelter for the homeless man. Well, this is the south far away from the freezing north, and I am happy to have mud on the torn soles of my shoes and I thank kind strangers for their alms. Very blue skies above me, the birds under the gentle clouds fly free, we all are under the heavens and have the mighty ocean beaches to walk on and cool our feet. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Love lost

Love Lost, in the last town before the forest. As I sat next to man's closest family member on earth the monkey, we both had the same idea, and without encroaching each other’s space we both sit in a cool mountain spring pool, and contemplated. This town was getting up, and preparing for the challenges of the day. Temple bells harkened the arrival of the new day, the street sweepers swept, the shopkeepers hawked their wares, and the housewife’s stroked the fires for the family breakfast. The holy men chanted and meditate that the day may go well. In the distant a very friendly volcano, growled and murmured as it has done for a millennium and thought it was the mouth piece for mother earth. The clouds travelled ever so slowly as they kissed the rim of the crater, and headed east by southeast, they harkened the coming of something wet, yes very wet, it was the coming of the monsoon season.
